She is aware of the concepts you have described and offers techniques to use among those whom you intend to persuade to “see” a different perspective.

The problem I have with Bonhoeffer is that he did not realize he himself was duped even though he thought stupidity was a cardinal sin. He fled to the US to escape conscription into the German military then relented and came back to Germany. Upon his return he worked for the BBC/MI-6 as a radio broadcaster opposed to Hitler before the war. The Germans shut that down and didn't prosecute him. But Bonhoeffer signaled his true allegiance was to the devil when he failed to oppose the Bolshevik Holadomor in Ukraine, which was widely known in Germany.
Bonhoeffer's family were members of the Knowledge Class, one of his siblings married a *Judean*, and he had knowledge of his brother's plot with military infiltrators to assassinate Hitler. So, he was finally arrested but not for complicity in an assassination plot but for taking financial advantage of *Judeans* by being a coyote arranging their escape to Austria. He was held in prison where he could write his papers and was treated humanely. But when his brother's assassination clique were to be executed they included Dietrich.
Bonhoeffer's good friend Martin Niemoller ("they came for the Communists, then the Unionists and nobody was left to defend me") was a hard Leftist who made pilgrimages after the war to support communists. This is why I say one can live their whole life compliant with the 10 Commandments and think of themselves as righteous, but were cunningly fooled to fight in heinous wars that their nation had no interest in such as Americans fighting WW1 and WW2 to destroy Germany. The Geopolitical rationale was to destroy Germany so that it would not ally with Russia against Britain (see Jim Macgregor, Two World Wars and Hitler: Who Was Responsible, 2025).
This is why I contend "sin" is a *Judean* concept and the true Christian concept is folly, foolishness, and fooling others wittingly or unwittingly (see Erasmus, In Praise of Folly, 1511).
What kept Bonhoeffer from seeing his own folly? Cognitive Dissonance coupled with his Knowledge Class belief in their moral superiority over the working class.
This is a useful article to keep. There's a good book by Stand Again website called Reaching Hiim. It's about men caught in coercive relationships. Cognitive dissonance is just one part of the complicated psychological trap which keeps men from seeing what's happening to them.
