In the imminent pending financial and economic crisis in Europe and the UK (no, these are not the same thing) we (the US) will buy Greenland and most of Canada and add them to the US as states (Greenland possibly as a protectorate).
The US will move on to freeing Ireland and the UK, by force if necessary (most probably in the form of advising and assisting native to the lands citizens in their fight to be free of the occupying peoples the Euros and the Vichy-like governments in the UK and Ireland have flooded and are flooding the UK and Ireland with).
Ireland and the UK (broken up or yet whole) will become US protectorate(s), but with stringent requirements for substantive changes mirroring those changes now happening in the US and which will expand in the US over the coming decade.
Europe will fall as a block and revert back to historical continental warfare while power shifts back towards the East of Europe - expansion of the already waging war between Orthodox and Catholic/Protestant states and peoples.
The only three recognized and partnered major powers in the world (within five years or less) will be the United States, Russia and China (this is already the case, we're just letting everyone else destroy themselves trying to be relevant and prove how useless and parasitic they are).

I think You are right, but the "x-factor" is the degree of public support versus elitist will in Europe that will call the timing and tempo of any fight.
I mean, any fight on Continental Europe.
